Obituary for Victor Scutt

In loving memory of Victor Scutt
May 24, 1929 – October 3, 2023
Victor Scutt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and beloved community member, passed away on October 3, 2023, at the age of 94 with family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel, and is survived by his sister, Marie Hall of Toronto, and his beloved daughters, Helen Scutt (Jim Howley) of Ayr and Anne Carter (Trevor) of St Catharines.
Affectionately known as Vic, he lived a fulfilling life filled with significant contributions to his community, cherished hobbies, and an appreciation for the experiences life had to offer.
Vic took immense pride in his grandchildren. Matt Wallis serves in the Canadian Armed Forces and resides in Pembroke with his wife, Hillary Downey. Lyndsay Wallis, a project manager with TELUS, and her fiancé, Steve Kulach, make their home in Burlington.
Victor's life was an adventure in itself. After six decades of farming livestock and crops on the Centre Line of Osprey Township near Badjeros, he and Hazel embarked on exciting travels across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the British Isles, and the southern USA.
Vic was an active and engaged member of his community. He made a lasting impact while serving on the Centre Line School Board, Dundalk Service Club, Dundalk District Masons and Manito Shriners. Together with Hazel, they dedicated many years to volunteering for Dundalk Christmas Cheer and the Dundalk Food Bank. Vic was also a faithful member of the United Church in Badjeros and later in Dundalk.
For 24 years, Vic proudly served on municipal councils, first in Osprey Township and then as Reeve for the Village of Dundalk. His commitment to public service was commendable.
Victor was known for capturing cherished memories with his cameras, and hosting gatherings for friends and family at his and Hazel's home in Dundalk. He was always up for a fishing adventure, loved to drive his truck, and had a reputation for his knack for fixing things, a skill that endeared him to anyone who sought his assistance – he was always happy to lend a hand.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to organizations that held special meaning for Victor: the Dundalk Food Bank, Dundalk Christmas Cheer, Shriners Children's Hospital Foundation, Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, or a charity of your choice. These contributions will honor Vic's legacy of kindness and community spirit.
Victor Scutt's life was a testament to the joys of living, the importance of family and friends, and the power of giving back. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire and bring warmth to all those whose lives he touched.
Friends and family will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Badjeros Cemetery.
