Stephen Jaymes McCutcheon
September 13, 1963 - April 9, 2024
Stephen (Steve) Jaymes McCutcheon passed quietly away in his 61st year, in his home in Brentwood, ON, surrounded by the love and support of his brother Gerald Elgin McCutcheon (Ottawa), and his sister Rhonda Lee Harriet (McCutcheon) Flanagan (John Flanagan) , with the sons of his heart, David North and Justin North and his loving “Lady Friend” (his words) Pamela Noble, who cared for Stephen with love the past 3 months. He was affectionately known as Papa Steve to Emily, Jessica, Cheylyn, Colton, Grace, Abby and Kate.
Stephen is mourned with love by his son Tye McCutcheon and his parents Claude Ronald McCutcheon (Melancthon, Ontario) and Louisa Jayne (DENT) McCutcheon (Grey Gables, Markdale, Ontario). Stephen’s niece, Krista Lynn Eckhardt (Jeremy Rancourt) Owen Sound, Ontario, nephew Matthew Patrick Eckhardt (Hayley Haupstein) St Catharines, Ontario, Aunt Gail (McCutcheon) Hayes and Uncle Paul Hayes, Uncle James McCutcheon (Jean Coward) Aunt Jackie Parkin and Aunt Rosemary (Stapleton) Davison. Stephen will always be remembered with love by the Miskie and Legge families.
Steve was born in Markdale, Ontario, and grew up in Wareham, Ontario. He was a student at Osprey Central Elementary School, Maxwell, and Grey Highlands Secondary in Flesherton
He spent his early years working with the family dairy and beef co-operative farm (McCutcheon Meadow) side by side with his father Claude McCutcheon his grandfather Wm. Elgin McCutcheon and great uncle Bruce McCutcheon. Through the years he drove taxi in Wasaga Beach and worked in road construction. He moved to Barrie after the 1985 tornado to work repairing and rebuilding the damaged homes and businesses. He continued working as a general contractor throughout his life. He was also part of the installation team of the “Spirit Catcher” in Barrie in 1987.
But work was work, friends and family were his center. Stephen had so many other lifelong friends who became part of his family and he, theirs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Osprey Recreation Centre, 494196 County Road 2, Feversham on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 1 – 4 p.m. with a sharing of memories at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations to the Alliston and District Humane Society would be appreciated. A private family interment will take place at Dundalk Maple Grove Cemetery.
