Obituary for Muriel Irene Gillies

June 30, 1927 to October 30, 2022

Gillies - Muriel Irene Gillies (nee Taylor) of Dundalk passed away quietly and peacefully at Grey Gables, Markdale on Sunday, October 30th, 2022 in her 96th year. Muriel was a city girl that turned into a full-fledged country girl and devoted her life to not only her family but worked hard within the community volunteering her time to numerous organizations such as the Dundalk United Church, Dundalk Dance Association and the Dundalk Agricultural Society. She was extremely fortunate to live a long and fulfilling life!
Muriel will be deeply missed by her children - Robert (Ann) of Dundalk, Shirley Phillips of Thornbury, Judy of Etobicoke, Tom (Liane) of Dundalk and Helen (Dean) Pate of Melancthon.
She will be sadly missed by her ten grandchildren - Mallory (John) Hutcheson, Steven (Nicole) Gillies, Mandi (Tim) Mayne, Sierra (Kurtis) Lougheed, David (Rebecca) Gillies, Melissa (Luke) Moore, Jonathan Kennaway, Matthew Gillies, Taylor and Jacob Pate as well as seventeen great-grandchildren - Alexander and Ainsley Hutcheson, Zoey, Morgan and Gabi Gillies, Ella, Connor and Colton Mayne, Kayden and Karter Lougheed, Paeton, Rowan, Soren and Devlin Gillies, Lexi Moore, Ashton Banks and Jonah Kennaway and great-great-granddaughter Sage Banks. She is survived by sisters-in-law - Dorothy (Gillies) Scott of Minesing and Barbara (Arvo) Kaasalainen of Minden. Predeceased by her husband William Milton Gillies in 2005. Muriel was the only daughter of the late Robert & Lulu (Duncan) Taylor. Predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Nelson and Rillie (Gillies) Rathbun, Jim and Mae Gillies, Don and Gladys Gillies, Rev. Bruce and Islay (Gillies) Besley and James Scott.

Visitation will be held at McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk, Ontario on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service funeral home chapel on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Dundalk Maple Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Dundalk United Church. If desired, donations may be made to the Grey Gables Staff Association (Resident Entertainment), Dundalk Dance Association, Markdale Hospital or a charity of choice.
