Obituary for Milford S. Colgan

Colgan, Milford S.

It is with heavy hearts we grieve the death of Milford S. Colgan who passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his home in Burlington, at the age of 74. Milford will be missed by his beloved wife Donna of 50 years and his daughter Julie (Jeffery). His sisters Lenore Westecott (Fred), Jo Anne Colgan, Vicki Hallman, Elaine Larsen (Cory), brother-in-law Ralph Aikins (Bev) sister-in-law Cheryl Donaldson (Doug), longtime family friends Joe & Ruth Timbers. Loved by many nieces & nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Elmer & Ruth Colgan, brother Jack & sister Bonnie.
Our hero, Milford worked as a Journeyman Power lineman for 47 years, serving with both Ontario and Mississauga Hydro. Completing many long hours and days of hard work in a career that he loved & a tradition carried down by his father, Elmer. Milford enjoyed spending time riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, gardening, completing Julie’s “Daddy To Do List” and reading the newspaper. Retirement years were spent travelling to Florida, the Caribbean, Ireland, Newfoundland & most recently Old Quebec City. Family meant everything to him. We are left with a lifetime filled with wonderful memories. He touched so many lives with his kindness, stories and his “Mel’s way” attitude. Friends and family will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Space is limited for this service. Masks or face coverings must be worn. Spring interment at Dundalk Maple Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we as a family would appreciate any donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association in honour of Milford at

Peacefully sleeping, resting at last.
The world’s weary trouble & trials are past.
In silence he suffered. In patience he bore.
Till God called him home to suffer no more.
