Obituary for Karen Yvonne Krauter
Krauter, Karen Yvonne
April 23, 1971 – August 9, 2023
Passed away suddenly at home on August 9, 2023 at the age of 52. Karen will be lovingly remembered by parents, Yvonne (Robinson) Krauter of Fergus and Jerry Krauter of Hanover; brother Jamie (Christine); nephews Eric and Sam; extended family and many friends. Predeceased by grandparents Vern and Elva Robinson and Willard and Beatrice Krauter.
After receiving her B.A. in Women’s Studies at York University, Karen continued to advocate for women and other marginalized groups in various capacities including her role as the Coordinator at the Centre for Women and Trans People at York.
Karen was very active in the track & field circuit throughout Ontario, excelling in both shotput and the hammer throw, representing her elementary school, high school and South Simcoe Dufferin Track & Field Club at numerous events such as the Colgate Women’s Games, the Canadian Championships (Ottawa) and the Canadian Juniors (Saskatchewan) where she achieved championship status.
Friends and family will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10 – 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. A private interment of ashes will take place at Bethel Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations to a Women’s Centre in your area or the United Way would be appreciated.
