Passed away peacefully at Markdale Hospital on Monday, January 30, 2023 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Taylor) for 51 years. Loving father of Tanya (Ian Wilson). Predeceased by his brother Marijan. Dear brother-in-law of Ana Filipcic and uncle of Davor (Susanne) and great-uncle of Madison, Max and Ben. He will be lovingly remembered by the Taylor family and many friends.
Ivan left his home country Croatia as a young man and travelled the world before settling in Ontario in 1968 and meeting his future bride Sharon. A true jack-of-all trades Ivan's career included various jobs in construction, auto body-work and engine repair. An avid fan of Western books and movies, Ivan and Sharon left the city and built the farm house where they raised Tanya and lived for the past 42 years. Retired, Ivan spent as much time as he could in his workshop or outside repairing equipment, splitting wood or finding an excuse to fire-up a tractor. Ivan was happiest caring for the animals on their farm, especially the small herd of cattle that were his pride and joy.
Friends and family will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, donations to Grey Bruce Health Services (Owen Sound or Markdale) or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
