Peacefully at home in Dundalk surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Margrit for almost 60 years. Devoted father of Angela (Tim) and Marc (Lee Ann). Proud grandfather of Valencia. Dear brother-in-law of Christian Noack and uncle of Melissa (Colin) and Barbara (Jeffery). Predeceased by his parents Ernst and Johanna Jakobs, sister Renate Niermann (Hermann), brother Ernst Jakobs Jr. (Brigitte) and sister-in-law Lore Noack.
Heinz came to Canada from Germany in 1957 and moved to Dundalk in 1964 where as a butcher and sausage maker he operated Jakobs & Sons for many years, served on the Dundalk Fire Department for 25 years, and was a member of the Dundalk Flying Club with his WWII Auster. Member of Dundalk Service Club and Generation Connection. He was an avid hunter since 1962 and enjoyed his yearly hunting trips.
Friends and family will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the Dundalk Legion. Private family interment at Dundalk Maple Grove Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
