PRESTON – Edith
Died on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at age 84 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph. Beloved wife of Grant Preston for 62 years. Mother of Paul (Viola), Vauxhall, AB; Ruth (Harold Schilk), Lethbridge, AB; Scott (Linda), Guelph; and Fred (Marilyn), Rosemary, AB. Much loved grandmother of 9 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. Also survived by her two widowed sisters – Pauline (Ken) Brown, Reta (Lyle) Rawn, and brother Bob (Maxine) Scott. Predeceased by her parents Bert and Mabel (Clarke) Scott and 2 infant grandsons.

Edith was a “people person” and a committed Christian. She was a member of Salem Church, then at Hopeville United Church (her church home in childhood) and later in Dundalk United Church where she served as an Elder. In her youth she played and coached girls’ softball and was active in Junior Farmers. Her early teaching days were in schools near Belwood and in Proton Township (now Southgate). Edith enjoyed many years of involvement in the Dundalk Fair, Proton Federation of Agriculture, and Denim & Lace Square Dance Club, serving several terms as President in these organizations. She was also a long-time 4-H Horse Club leader.

Visitation at McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Friday, August 31 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial at Salem Cemetery, Southgate. If desired, memorial donations to Dundalk United Church, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
